Frequently Asked Questions

What are the requirements for riding the bus?

Anyone requiring non-emergency transportation can ride the CPTA bus. Passengers are required to wear Mask when boarding our vehicle, and throughout their entire transport CPTA does not do emergency medical transportation. General Public Fare Rates are $2. General Public fare rates are only applicable to individuals who are not receiving transportation assistance from other funding sources such as:

                                             * Grant Funding for transportation

                                             * Local County Contributions


How do I obtain services?

To request a ride you may call Monday through Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.  Request for transportation must be made by 10:00 a.m. the day before transportation is needed by calling the following number: (252) 539-2022 (Ext. 222, 223, 224), 1-800-735-2962 (TDD/TTY) or 1-877-735-8200 (Hearing Impaired).

I have mobility limitations, can I ride with CPTA?

Yes! Nearly all of our vehicles have mobility lifts. Please inform Dispatch when scheduling transportation of your need for this service so they can make arrangements to accommodate you. 

What information do I need when I call?

You must be prepared to give the dispatchers the following information:
*Your name, physical address and telephone number
*The date and time of your appointment or desired delivery
*Your destination's physical address and/or Doctor Name

*Are there in special needs that we need to consider

Where can the bus take me?

Anywhere within our four county service area such as:

                         *Human Services Agencies
                        *Adult Daycare Centers
                        *Shopping
                        *College
                        *Child Daycare Centers
                        *Nutrition Sites
                        *Work
                        *Senior Citizens Sites
                        *Dialysis Centers
                        *Medical Appointments
                        *Recreation Centers

What are some helpful hints for when I ride the bus?

*Please have the correct fare. (Drivers cannot make change)

* Passes may be purchased. E-Z Pass requests can be made with your driver or a dispatcher.

                                           *E-Z Passes are available (General Public Rates Only)

                                        * Unlimited amount can be put on your E-Z Pass account
*Call us if you need to cancel your transportation. 

*No eating or drinking on the vehicle. *Vehicles can only wait up to 3 minutes for you.

*Carry only the number of packages you can safely control.

*Must respect other passengers on the vehicle (abusive language, Sexual Content, appropriate behavior etc.)

*No unauthorized hazardous material or weapons on the vehicles.
*No Smoking or Alcoholic beverages on our vehicles!

* We only provide Mass transportation.
